CHARLOTTE, NC — It has been a strange year in the Queen City labor market. Uptown landed a Japanese megabank promising 2,000 jobs, Plaza Midwood got a car company headquarters, and meanwhile Family Dollar closed a Matthews facility and put 373 people out of work. Both things are true at once. If you are the person holding the WARN letter rather than the press release, the fall hiring calendar matters more than the ribbon cuttings.

Three job fairs are confirmed on the Charlotte-area calendar between September 23 and November 18, 2026. All three are in person, all three are free for job seekers, and each one is aimed at a different kind of candidate.

A word on the size of that list. Charlotte is the second-largest banking center in the country and the fall job-fair calendar here is thinner than you would expect for a metro of 2.8 million. Charlotte Works, the regional workforce board, has nothing posted past mid-September. The campus fairs at UNC Charlotte and Central Piedmont are gated to their own students. What survived verification is what is below, and every one of these three was confirmed on the organizer's own website, not on a ticketing aggregator.

Charlotte Career Fair — Wednesday, September 23

6:00 p.m. | Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte/Concord, 7831 Gateway Ln NW, Concord, NC 28027

This one is different from the other two in three ways, and all three matter before you make the drive up I-85. It runs in the evening, not midday, which is the whole point if you are job hunting while still employed. It is in Concord, in Cabarrus County, a few minutes from Concord Mills and the Speedway rather than anywhere inside Mecklenburg. And it is narrow: United Career Fairs runs this as a sales and sales management event, recruiting for outside sales, inside sales, account managers, account executives, branch and sales managers, business development and retail management. The format is company presentations first, then face-to-face time with the hiring managers, deliberately kept small rather than run as a cattle call. You do not need a sales background on your resume to be in the room, but you do need to want a client-facing job. Free for candidates. Charlotte Career Fair — Thursday, November 5

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Ayrsley, 1917 Ayrsley Town Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28273

Back inside the county line and back to a general-audience format. Ayrsley sits in southwest Charlotte off South Tryon, close enough to I-485 and Steele Creek that it pulls from Pineville, Rivergate and the airport corridor as easily as it does from uptown. Choice Career Fairs puts hiring decision-makers in a hotel ballroom for three hours in the middle of a Thursday, and admission is free whether or not you sign up ahead. Registering gets you a VIP pass and a faster walk through the door, which on a busy fair is worth the two minutes it takes. Charlotte Job Fair — Wednesday, November 18

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Hilton Charlotte University Place, 8629 J M Keynes Drive, Charlotte, NC 28262

The last confirmed fair of the fall, and the best-placed one if you live on the north side. University Place is right off Harris Boulevard near the UNC Charlotte campus and the I-85 interchange, and the Blue Line runs out that way, which makes this the easiest of the three to reach without a car. Best Hire Career Fairs runs a standard three-hour open-floor event, free for job seekers. ⚠️ Read This Before You Drive Over

September 23 is sales only. If you are looking for warehouse, clinical, trades or administrative work, this is not your event. Skip to November 5.
September 23 is also in Concord, not Charlotte. From uptown that is roughly 25 minutes up I-85 with no traffic, and considerably more at 5 p.m. Leave early.
No employer list is published for any of the three. Organizers add logos as companies commit. Nobody is promising you a specific employer will be there.
None of these are on-the-spot hiring events. Expect screening conversations and follow-up interviews, not an offer letter in the parking lot.

In sales, or want to be: September 23 in Concord, and it is not close. An entire room of sales hiring managers is a rare thing in this market.
Working days and can only move in the evening: September 23 again, for the 6 p.m. start.
Open to anything, live south or west: November 5 at Ayrsley.
Live in University City, Concord Road, Newell or Highland Creek: November 18, and you can take the Blue Line.

Do any of these Charlotte job fairs cost money?

No. All three are free for job seekers. Organizers charge the employers who rent a table, not the people walking in. If a Charlotte job fair ever asks you for an entry fee, walk away.

Do I have to register in advance?

Not for any of the three, though it helps. The November 5 fair gives registered attendees a VIP pass for faster entry, and the September 23 sales fair asks for pre-registration so the organizer can flag you to employers ahead of time. Walking up cold still gets you in the door.

Why are there only three job fairs on this list?

Because three are all that could be confirmed on an organizer's own website. Several Charlotte career fairs circulating on ticketing sites for October do not appear on the calendars of the companies supposedly running them, so they are not here. We would rather publish a short list you can trust than a long one that sends you to a locked hotel ballroom.

Are the UNC Charlotte and Central Piedmont career fairs open to the public?

Generally no. Both schools run their fall recruiting through their own students and alumni platforms, and employers pay to meet those students specifically. If you are enrolled at either school, use them — they are the deepest employer rooms in the city. If you are not, they are not an option.

What should I wear and bring?

Business professional for the September 23 sales fair, where the room skews formal. Business casual at minimum for the other two. Bring ten to fifteen printed resumes to any of them, a photo ID, and any certifications or licenses in a folder rather than on your phone. Hotel wifi at a career fair is always worse than you expect.
